Two week workshop on ‘Contemporary Research Methodology:Theory & Practices’ from 07th to 21st Feb. 2020

Applications are invited from researchers in social sciences doing M.Phil or Ph.D or working in colleges/universities/research institutes having a Master’s degree in any social science discipline for participating in a two week–long workshop on ‘Contemporary Research Methodology:Theory & Practices’ consistent with UGC norms. The workshop has been scheduled to be held during 7th FEB, 2020 to -21st FEB, 2020) at Nabakrishna Choudhury Centre for Development Studies (NCDS), Institutional Area, Gangadhar Meher Marg, Bhubaneswar- 751013

DRI in collaboration with NCDS, Anthropological Survey of India, is organizing the workshop. The purpose is to encourage young researchers in social sciences to have an exposure to the advances in research methods.

Objectives of the Workshop
▪ Introducing the contemporary debates on theoretical issues
▪ To give young researchers the opportunity to share their research interest with senior scholars in the field
▪ Acquainting with updated statistical packages and
▪ Fieldwork techniques in rural, urban and scheduled areas

The Programme includes a four4-day Writing Workshop from 8th Feb.2020 to 11th Feb. 2020) focusing on the following themes:
✓ Preparing a Ph.D proposal/synopsis
✓ How to write an article for a peer reviewed journal
✓ Techniques of writing a book review and a review article
✓ How to write a research report based on a field survey
✓ Principal aspects of writing a project proposal for a funding agency
✓ Developing a ph.d dissertation into a book for publication

Participants are advised to give Rs. 3500/- as programme fee in the form of Bank Draft favouring Gabeshana Chakra, Bhubaneswar/ or transfer through NEFT to Account no 450502010006900, IFSC code UBIN0545058, Union Bank of India,Gajapati Nagar Branch, Bhubaneswar-751005. The Institute will provide free boarding and lodging at NCDS Campus on a sharing basis to the participants. Participants who want accommodation are advised to mention in their application.

Participants should send an application along with Bank Draft, a Curriculum Vitae, a brief note in about 250words on a research question that they wish to work on during the workshop. Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by 21st Jan. 2020
